A weekend in september

I had so much to say, when i came here to write, i realized i have to plan for my shona's bday soon. Then my mind drifted to a high pace of thoughts, who to invite, where to host, invitation cards etc. i frantically ran around to place a notebook to pen down names, searched for my phone (god knows where is it); while searching for it, as i'm heading into each room on the first floor, my mind was boggled more by half done jobs, folded laundry calling out to be put back in shelf, my clothes from last night strewn across casually in the room, my watch and earrings on the counter....the lazy sunday morning feeling in me is being stubborn to say, "not to touch a thing except for looking for the phone".....buss...enough...this is not important, except the following...

My bday was a blast, ammi kick started it on friday nite, we went shopping to KOP, she treated me to ring that i didnt need, a green blouse that we bth loved. Came home to V trying to calm Tania down. At the ring of twelve the childlike expression on my mom's facce to make it celebratory for me, she made me cut the left over pineapple pie we made two days ago, gave me a card, hugs, kisses, blessings! But that expression on her face was priceless!!!

Sat was fab....like a perfect day, it fit like a glove. Ammi made vada's, relaxed until late afternoon and headed to kati roll ( a small joint opened recently); as we were heading to bowling place, i was surprised to know all my doll friends were heading here to spend the day with me, i feel so touched when that happens, more than a surprise. I felt blessed.

Strong and going....

On the eve of new years, we decided to head to Red door Spa, after getting much needed pampering of the skin and soul, we headed to the refresher make up room. Cynthia, she was, after doing my friends face and lips, she asked me if i wanted the same shade, being me, i said i'd rather try another shade, after few iffy suggestions, she pulled out a shade & said it would suit the inside of my lips, pink pout it was.

While doing my lips, she says, this actually suits your personality. Quizzing her i asked her, which one would that be, like it was a no brainer, she said, you have a strong personality and this shade suits you. I just couldnt hold it, i cracked up laughing, she barely spent an hour with me while doing my facial, and now she made the bang on judgement.

My friend couldnt agree more, you are right, that's what she is, like a flame to the esters, the beautician, said, most women are not, so it's good to come across one. Few hours into new years day, it felt like she reintroduced me to a familiarity of mine, 'My strength....' it's been both a blessing and otherwise, people test me for it, see how far i can be stretched because of it, some have relied on the same, i have relied on myself to cruise through some tough ones, and smile at others with the brush of a feather.

Our stay at Seaview resort was very relaxing and peaceful, it was quite unlikely than the past new years eve. There were two weddings and people dressed to kill on new years eve, it was quite refreshing that AC was not just about gambling and there is more to it. Will surely recommend it and do it all over again.

Note to self, send a snail mail to the chef in the grille room, how awesome was the crispy buttermilk chicken salad, the dressing was a killer, killer, killer. Taran and rest of the kids had a blast in the game room, it was first time for taran to enjoy a room service breakfast which was so comforting, just wake up, call, bingo, eat, chill and go out. We rang the new year with funny stories, lots of drinks and hearty laughs.

It felt like a tight arm around my shoulder, walking with me into the new year.

Mo

A dear friend of dad's Mohan prasad uncle is no more, a severe loss for the literary world. A well known, highly acknowledged poet. I remember visiting uncles home on my way back from my drawing class in summer holidays when dad was stationed there. Uncle always in white, with cigarette in his hand and their open home next to a rocky mountain in vijayawada. He use to say "paininchi okka rai kuda padindante, mana kuteeram sangatulu inka anthay"..... he'd have a small garden in that patch where the possibility of any rock falling was eminent. I'd look up and wonder...

His daughter, mamta akka went on to win debates at national level and was sent to Germany. Sujata anuty is quite a simpleton. I'll always remember you fondly uncle, i promise to visit aunty the next time i'm there.
